Bricks Curriculum
BRICKS Curriculum
Introduction to the BRICKS curriculum:
Our BRICKS curriculum has been designed by Eccleston Lane Ends Primary School to be a bespoke, unique and exciting learning experience which aims to inspire critical thinking and develop our pupils into independent, articulate learners who are resilient and resourceful. Within this broad and balanced approach, we place a high importance on instilling both our school and the British values and promoting health and well-being with reading being at the heart of everything we do.
Our carefully considered approach to subjects provides opportunities to build on both knowledge and skills. Subjects are discreetly taught (using Development Matters and the National Curriculum as a basis, enhanced by careful pedagogical research) and focused upon progressively developing pupils’ knowledge, skills and key vocabulary; attributes which pupils can then take on through every step of their academic journey.
All subjects are centrally driven by our six Building Blocks for Learning, which permeate through everything that we do. Alongside our BRICKS curriculum, are our whole-school values, every half term a different value is taken as the central focus. Together, these interlinked elements develop children’s character and ensure that children of Eccleston Lane Ends Primary School accrue the attributes necessary for a happy successful future based on working with each and for each other.
Purpose
The purpose of our curriculum is to ensure that are children are successful in life and in learning no matter what their starting points or barriers to learning may be. The bricks symbolise the sequential building of knowledge and skills, from a secure foundation in Reception, right up to the ‘top of the house’ when children leave in Year 6. As a school, our curriculum sets high expectations for each and every child, meaning that we are relentless in our commitment to overcoming any barriers faced by our children and to developing children who are self-motivated in their pursuit and love of learning.
