Oracy
Oracy at Eccleston Lane Ends Primary School
As a Voluntary Aided Primary School, Eccleston Lane Ends is committed to providing a well-rounded education that empowers our pupils to become confident, articulate learners. At the heart of our BRICKS curriculum is the belief that 'Creating Articulate Learners' is essential for our pupils' academic and personal development.
Developing Oracy Skills
Oracy, the ability to express ideas, engage in discussion, and communicate effectively through spoken language, is a key focus at our school. We believe that by teaching our pupils to become skilled speakers and listeners, we are equipping them with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
Over the past two years, we have been proud to participate in the Voice 21 programme, which has enabled us to embed high-quality oracy education throughout our curriculum. Our teachers work diligently to plan, model, and scaffold opportunities for pupils to learn through talk, ensuring they develop the necessary skills to communicate their thoughts and ideas with clarity and confidence.
Empowering Our Pupils
At Eccleston Lane Ends, we recognise that oracy is not just a academic skill, but a pathway to social mobility. By giving all of our pupils, regardless of their background, the chance to find their voice and express themselves, we are empowering them to reach their full potential and become active, engaged members of their community.
Our commitment to Inclusion and Respect is evident in the way we approach oracy, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to develop their communication skills in a supportive and nurturing environment. Through Cooperation and Determination, our pupils learn to listen to and appreciate the perspectives of others, fostering a culture of mutual understanding and growth.
Preparing for the Future
As our pupils progress through their education and into the wider world, the oracy skills they have developed at Eccleston Lane Ends will serve them well. Whether they are engaging in academic discourse, participating in job interviews, or simply having everyday conversations, the ability to articulate their thoughts and ideas with clarity and confidence will be a valuable asset.
By Working with each other and for each other, we are proud to support our pupils in becoming articulate, self-assured individuals who are well-equipped to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the future.
