Congratulations new intake families, your school places have been allocated and we are truly looking forward to welcoming all our new children into our Reception class in September. Miss Grant and Mrs Davey are very excited to meet all of the children and for your child’s school journey to begin.

You should have already received your starter packs full of all the information you will need to get you started at ELE. This will include where to purchase uniform, information about lunches, and an overview of school routines. The PowerPoint that staff delivered on the new intake parents meeting is also available to view on this page.

Over the coming weeks, staff will be visiting your child in their nursery setting, this will give staff a chance to introduce themselves and Ted the class bear. Miss Grant and Mrs Davey are looking forward to playing alongside your child. Staff at nursery settings can also hand over key information to their new teachers to make the transition process a smooth one.

On Wednesday 29th June and 6th July, families are invited to stay and play sessions at school. On the first date you will attend school alongside your child and share lunch together.  As parents/carers you will have the opportunity to find out more about school. The children will have the chance to explore the classroom alongside their new teachers. On the second visit, your child will stay with staff and parents/carers can put their feet up at home! Both sessions will run from 9.00-11.00am.

A September start to a new school is always full of excitement and apprehension and often it is an anxious time for families, please look at the files attached to support this process. Staff have attached some top tips to deal with change and a road map to starting school.

You may also like to share books about starting school with your child. Here are some recommended books to enjoy at home. Your child will also receive free books about starting at ELE during Stay and Play sessions.

Staff have also attached visuals to support morning routines. Your child may find getting dressed each morning tricky, why not print off the attached visuals and order them. Encourage your child to follow these cards each morning, they will be so proud of their independence skills and will certainly be ready for school in September!

The children of ELE’s current Reception class wanted to tell you all about school life. They really do love school.

Don’t forget to take a look at the EYFS page on the school website too. This will give you lots of information about learning in Reception and an overview on how Tapestry is used.

Bedtime storytelling sessions read by the staff of ELE. This is a perfect way for your child to get to know the Reception staff whilst developing a love of stories.
